Charming
cast-iron teapot/kettle with a pretty ceramic lid
The hira is
a colorful little teapot/kettle created using heritage tech begun in the Heian
period (794-1185). Made by one Hisanori Masuda, a leading expert in YAMAGATA
METAL CASTING, the overall impression of the hira is one of pretty
practicality. Available in a choice of four colors, each with a funky ceramic
lid designed by KIRIKO, it is coated internally with corrosion resistant
silicone. Its flat bottom allows small amounts of water to be heated directly
on any kind of heat source, including induction cookers. Ideal for serving tea
for 1 to 3 people, the hira can also be used as a very handsome Sake server
